Budget-Friendly Front Yard Tips For Getting Your Home Ready for Fall Fun or a Fall Listing Date

1. Start at the Front Door

Your front door is the welcoming threshhold for friends coming to visit, family visiting over the Holidays or potential Buyers. An easy way to freshen up your front door to give that great first impression is to paint it. The most popular color these days is classic black. Other colors are navy blue, red, yellow andsage green. It all depends on what feel you want your entry way to look. Painting is an improvement that can be made fairly quickly and inexpensively.

2. Consider Function and Style

I have found that my front porch is an area for decompressing or relaxing before the day starts or ends. You can create a personality just for your entry way. Add a seating area, plants, fun mementos, colorful pillows or fun accents. I have a cement turtle about to eat a wire sculture of a grass hopper. Of course, the turtle never accoumplishes eating the grasshopper. You know how slow turtles can be.

3. Upgrade the Lighting

Lighting plays a dual role—safety and ambiance. I think lighting is so importantant. My husband and I sit out in the evening and have on some novelty accent lighting that looks like grapes. Very cozy. Plus they are connected to our Alexa so they are operated by voice command

.

4. Use Plants to Soften the Edges

I love flowers, but my front porch is all about giving my indoor plants a break and breathing some fresh air for the summer. It gives the area a garden like feel when you walk up to the house. Wreaths on your door can change with the seasons or your mood.

Keep Things Neat and Tidy

First impressions can be powerful. Whether for your own personal enjoyment or if you are
thinking of selling.  Keeping the walks clean and the porch tidy are essential. A nice, clean, manicured look never goes out of style.

If you are considering selling your house in the fall or winter months, have your Realtor take professional pictures while the summer sunshine and your landscaping is at its best.
